Mathematical Sciences at Adams State

Accessible faculty and individual attention plus engaging coursework and the latest technology equals mathematics success. Prepare for graduate work, a career in the industry, or for teaching.

We pride ourselves in being a small department that provides ample access to computing hardware and software, including ADA compliant sites.

Mathematics majors at ASU learn to apply logical reasoning and mathematical precision to solve problems. The broad base of mathematical topics treated provides majors with a solid foundation from which to pursue graduate studies in the mathematical sciences.

Students who choose to major in mathematics are qualified for employment in a wide variety of occupations.

We also serve those students who desire to teach mathematics at the secondary school level.

By completing a typical mathematics major within the department, then obtaining the necessary licensing requirements via the Department of Teacher Education, these students emerge from ASU prepared to step right into the classroom.

Faculty who care about All Students

We offer a selection of courses for non-majors designed to help them become familiar with the use of mathematics as the language of nature, and some of the many applications of mathematics or computers to other fields.

The department has a responsibility to give every student an opportunity to achieve quantitative literacy as well as proficiency with computer technology.
